Specialization : Nuclear Materials (Radiation and Nuclear Physics)
Research Interest: Radiation effects in nuclear materials and Engineering alloys, combining experimental irradiation (neutron and ion beams), advanced microstructural characterization (XRD, HRTEM, F-DSC, TGS), and computational (MCNP, Geant4, ROOT, SRIM, DFT)/Machine Learning methods to understand defect formation and material degradation in extreme environments such as Nuclear Reactors and Accelerators. He is also into Physics Education and Science Communication.

(1) Comprehensive radiation damage assessment of Fibre Optic Sensors (FOS) for In-situ monitoring in nuclear reactor environments (Post-Doctoral Fellowship research University of Johannesburg)

Professional Biography
His research focuses on radiation damage in materials using neutron and ion beams, complemented by advanced characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), High-Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HRTEM), and Nanocalorimetry, alongside robust computational analyses. His work is supported by strong collaborative ties with institutions including the Centre for High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (CHRTEM) at Nelson Mandela University, the SAFARI-1 research reactor at Necsa, iThemba LABS, and the Short’s Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA.
He is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa working on radiation damage on Fibre Optic Sensors (FOS). He is collaborating with the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits University), South Africa, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA, on a project titled “Predicting Radiation Damage to Dual-Use Scientific/Industrial Cyclotrons.”
